Abstract

In June 2014 in Central Java there was inflation of 0.73 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 112.27, higher than in May 2014 which experienced inflation of 0.24 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 111.45 . Of the six SBH cities, all experienced inflation. The SBH city that experienced the highest inflation was Cilacap City at 1.07 percent with a CPI of 114.85 followed by Semarang City at 0.85 percent with a CPI of 112.15; Tegal City was 0.60 percent with a CPI of 108.95; Kudus City was 0.52 percent with a CPI of 117.48; The city of Surakarta was 0.51 percent with a CPI of 110.78 and the lowest was the city of Purwokerto at 0.48 percent with a CPI of 111.90.
  • Inflation occurred mainly due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index in the foodstuffs group of 1.67 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group at 1.16 percent; health group at 0.28 percent; processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group by 0.25 percent; clothing group at 0.18 percent; the education, recreation and sports group was 0.15 percent and the transport, communication and financial services group was 0.04 percent.
  • Commodities that make the biggest contribution to inflation are house contracts, onions, purebred chicken meat, purebred chicken eggs and garlic.
  • Commodities that make the biggest contribution to deflation are spinach, young jackfruit, red chilies, concrete iron, gasoline.
  • Of the six provincial capitals on the island of Java, all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Semarang at 0.85 percent followed by Serang at 0.66 percent; Yogyakarta at 0.43 percent; DKI at 0.41 percent; Surabaya was 0.37 percent and Bandung was 0.20 percent.
  • Of the 82 national CPI cities, 76 cities experienced inflation and 6 cities experienced deflation. The five cities that experienced the highest inflation were Ternate at 1.29 percent; Cilacap 1.07 percent; Singkawang and Sampit each had 1.03 percent and Tanjung 0.98 percent. Meanwhile, the five cities that experienced the lowest inflation were Tual at 0.06 percent, followed by Bukit Tinggi and Merauke at 0.09 percent each and Tanjung Pinang and Jember at 0.12 percent each.
  • The inflation rate for the June 2014 calendar year was 2.44 percent and the "year on year" inflation rate (June 2014 versus June 2013) was 7.26 percent.
