Abstract

Labor Force: The labor force in Central Java is 18.23 million people. The working population is 17.46 million people.
Open Unemployment Rate (TPT): Central Java's Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) is 4.23 percent.
Main Employment Fields: Period February 2017―February 2018, the 3 (three) largest categories that experienced an increase in employment were the Accommodation and Food and Drink Provision category (0.83 percentage points), the Wholesale and Retail Trade Category (0.34 percentage points); Car Repair and Maintenance (0.34 percentage points), Other Services Category (0.33 percentage points).
Formal Informal: The population working in informal activities is 60.01 percent, and the percentage of informal workers increased by 1.14% points compared to August 2017.
Not Fully Employed: There are 25.22 percent of the population who are not fully employed (working hours less than 35 hours a week) including 6.38 percent who are underemployed and 18.84 percent who are part-time workers.
Highest Education Completed: The working population in Central Java in February 2018 was still dominated by those with low education (Junior High School or below) at 69.18 percent.
