Abstract

Central Java's economy based on the size of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices during 2019 reached IDR 1,362,457.38 billion and at constant prices in 2010 it reached IDR 992,105.79 billion.
  • Central Java's economy in 2019 grew 5.41 percent, stronger than the achievement in 2018 (5.31 percent). In terms of production, the highest growth was achieved by the Information and Communication Business Field (11.62 percent). In terms of expenditure, the highest growth was achieved by the Non-Profit Institutions Serving Households (LNPRT) component of 10.90 percent.
  • In 2019, Central Java's economic structure, in terms of production, was still dominated by the Processing Industry Business Field, namely 34.42 percent, while in terms of expenditure it was dominated by the Household Consumption Expenditure Component (PKRT) which reached 60.33 percent.
  • Compared to the same period in 2018, Central Java's economy in the fourth quarter of 2019 grew 5.34 percent (y-on-y). From the production side, growth was driven by all business fields, with the highest growth recorded by the Accommodation and Food and Drink Provision Business Field which grew 10.78 percent. In terms of expenditure, the highest growth was achieved by the LNPRT component which increased by 8.15 percent.
  • The Central Java economy in the fourth quarter of 2019 experienced a contraction of -2.35 percent compared to the third quarter of 2019 (q-to-q). In terms of production, this was mainly due to the performance of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Business Fields which contracted by -22.34 percent. Meanwhile, on the expenditure side, this was due to the Import Component increasing by 9.59 percent while the PMTB component contracted by -2.49 percent.
