Abstract

The 2013 Central Java Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) was 60.84 on a scale of 0 to 100, this figure decreased by 2.95 points compared to the 2012 Central Java IDI of 63.79. Despite experiencing a decline, Central Java's level of democracy still remains in the medium category. The level of democracy is grouped into three categories, namely "good" (index > 80), "medium" (index 60 - 80), and "bad" (index < 60).
  • The decrease in the number which constitutes the composite index is influenced by changes in three aspects of democracy being measured, namely Civil Liberties which rose 4.15 points from 77.03 in 2012 to 79.18 in 2013, Political Rights by 46. .29 or the same as 2012 which was also 46.29, and Democratic Institutions (Institutions of Democracy) which fell 16.57 points from 77.46 in 2012 to 60.89 in 2013.
  • Methodologically, 4 data sources were used in data collection in the form of: (1) review of local newspapers, (2) review of documents (Perda, Pergub, etc.), (3) Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and (4) in-depth interviews.
