Human development in Central Java in 2019 experienced progress, marked by an increase in the Central Java Human Development Index (HDI). In 2019, Central Java's HDI reached 71.73, an increase of 0.61 points compared to 2018 which was 71.12.
Since 2017, the status of human development in Central Java has reached the "high" category (HDI above 70), while between 2010-2016, it was still in the "medium" category (60 ≤ HDI < 70).
During the 2018 - 2019 period, the components that make up HDI also experienced an increase. Newborn babies have a chance of living up to 74.23 years, an increase of 0.05 years compared to those born in 2018. Children aged 7 years have a chance of going to school for 12.68 years, or an increase of 0.05 years. On average, residents aged 25 years and over have studied for 7.53 years (Junior High School Grade 1), or an increase of 0.18 years. Per capita public expenditure adjusted for PPP (Purchasing Power Parity) based on constant 2012 prices has reached 11,102 million rupiah in 2019, an increase of Rp. 325 thousand rupiah compared to the previous year.
